  • Travel Instruction is a set of services designed to teach people with disabilities how to safely and independently use fixed route transportation. For those students with disabilities who are unable to obtain a drivers license, travel instruction can be the key to successful post-secondary outcomes. Travel instruction often results in increased independence, confidence, and the ability to live, learn and have fun within the community.

Parents- if you are interested in discussing if this service is a need for your student, please contact your student's case manager or special education work coordinator and please feel free to invite a member of the travel instruction team to your student's IEP meeting.

SPPS Staff- The travel instruction team is available to attend IEP meetings to share information about the program and to start the referral process.  You can also use the link on the right side of the page to make an assessment referral and request additional routes for eligible students.  Greater details of the process and timelines are included within the online referral form.

If there are questions, contact the travel instruction program directly by phone at 651-744-3239 or by email: justin.lamphere@spps.org.
