Reinhardt

Brian Reinhardt has taught computer related classes at Central High School since 1997. He previously taught Math, Science, Religion and art at Ascension Catholic School in NE Mpls and Mathematics at Valley Middle School. He holds Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Education from Concordia University and a Master of Arts in Learning Technology from the University of St. Thomas. He also holds a license to teach technology from Bemidji State.

At Central, Brian teaches computer science classes (see below) and team teaches Broadcast Journalism with a member of the English Department. He also manages the Central website and is the head badminton coach.

T405301            Introduction to Computer Programming
Grades 9-12            Quarters 1-2 or Quarter 3-4
Course Description:  This course teaches students the  concepts of computer programming while creating simple computer games, animations and simulations. No prior programming experience is necessary. Students will learn and apply basic programming terms such as: variables, loops, and conditionals.  Prerequisite:  None
 
M451101            AP Computer Science
Grades 11-12            Full Year
Course Description:  This is a year long computer science class wherein students learn the Java programming language. This course follows the AP Computer Science syllabus. At the end of the course students will take the AP Exam. The class will prepare students for this exam.

L405351 Broadcast Journalism*** (elective credit only)
Grades 10-12 Semester 1 and/or Semester 2
Course Description:  Students in this class produce, direct and star in the Central Morning News, a daily program that is also broadcast community-wide once each week.  Students learn all the technological pieces necessary to broadcast a news program as well as how to tell a television news story. Each student in the class will be responsible to learn and perform each job in a news program, from editing a video piece, to rolling in computer graphics and being on camera.
Prerequisite:  None  (Does not meet NCAA requirements and may not fulfill English for college)
