IB Diploma Program Course Offerings at Central

  • IB DP Courses are organized by IB into groups. Click on the name of the course to see its current syllabus:

    • Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature

    • Group 2: Language Acquisition

      • In our language acquisition classes, students test in their senior year depending on which class they are taking in 12th grade. Students taking Language year 4 take the Standard Level (SL) language exam; Language year 5, 6, and immersion students take the Higher Level (HL) language exam.

        • IB language study is offered at Central in Chinese (SL and HL), French (SL and HL), German (SL and HL), Latin (SL), Russian (SL), and Spanish (SL and HL). 

    • Group 3: Individuals and Societies

      • IB DP Economics SL

      • IB DP History of the Americas HL 11

      • IB DP History 20th Century Topics HL 12

        • Note: with IB History, students take the History HL test in 12th grade after taking both courses in the IB History sequence

      • IB DP Philosophy SL

    • Group 4: Sciences

    • Group 5: Mathematics

      • IB DP Math Applications SL

      • IB DP Math Analysis SL

      • IB DP Math Analysis HL

        • Note: Math Analysis HL requires that students take AP Calculus AB as the first year of the course sequence in 11th grade

    • Group 6: The Arts

      • IB DP Dance SL (offered when demand allows)

      • IB DP Music HL (for 12th grade students who took IB DP Music SL in 11th grade )

      • IB DP Visual Arts SL
